COLUMBIA — Today is an unusual election day for Stephen Webber.

It's 11 a.m., but instead of launching a final canvassing volley to secure voters in his 23^rd District, Webber is headed south on Providence Road to help out fellow candidate Mary Still. Webber plans to beat the street for Still this afternoon after first doing some door knocking for the Democratic gubernatorial candidate,  Attorney General Jay Nixon.

COLUMBIA - By large margins, Stephen Webber and Mary Still won the Democratic nominations for the 23rd and 25th district seats in the Missouri House of Representatives, respectively, on Tuesday.

For Webber, who faces no Republican opponent in November, it means he'll almost certainly assume the post in January.

COLUMBIA - Except for the stacks of "Vote Webber" signs, the exterior of the house in central-west Columbia doesn't stand out from the others in the cul-de-sac.

The house's basement, however, is headquarters: the Batcave, the command center, or, as the sign at the top of the stairs says, "The Serene Abode." Whatever name they use for their campaign office, the three young men typing away at computers in the basement are part of what Stephen Webber, candidate for Missouri's 23rd House District, refers to as "one of the best campaign staffs working in the state."
