Democratic Blogs Pick Sides

Why are Democrat blogs getting so deeply involved in choosing up sides for their statewide and local primary contests? Is it fair for the general public reading those blogs that the blog owners do not reveal their inherent biases?

In the Kansas City area some Democratic blogs fight with each other on a daily basis. Gone Mild, CCP and the KC Blue Blog all regularly prop up certain primary candidates, and not always the same ones. Reading some of vitriol on their comments sections you would think these blogs were Republican and deserving of rebuke.

On a related note, Jeff Mazur is a former Fired Up! Missouri blogger who, sources say, currently pens the Big Muddy Politics blog. Of course, Mazur doesn’t want anyone to know he pens that blog. Big Muddy started in October of last year. Is it just coincidence that his last post to his Fired Up! blog came just a few months earlier? Mazur also won’t tell you, but he is a closet Margaret Donnelly fan. Just don’t tell the folks at AFSCME.

Mazur’s old blog bosses are taking up sides too. The Carnahan/Temple sect is diving in hard for Andria Simckes in her four way primary for State Treasurer. Clint Zweifel fans are probably as fired up about that as anyone.

Why are these blogs taking their intra-party squabbles public? Power. Each wants to be able to say they had a hand in electing someone. Each wants to be on the inside should their candidate win. But are any of them prepared for what may happen if they lose?
